SEO is "search engine optimization". In other words, it's tweakies you do to your pages to rank high in free search engine results (called SERPs).
That's the good news.
The bad news is that it's getting more and more difficult to rank high for specific keywords. Let's face it - the top 10 positions on a search engine have, well, only 10 possibilities! And at the rate the Internet is increasing, it just gets harder and harder.
Not impossible, mind you....just more difficult.
With that, let me give you some tips from various of my books.
There are some excellent resources you can take advantage of for free! They include:
Those three resources will give you wonderful hours of useful facts you can use for your own SEO.
But what if you want software to help? You can consider:
There are several popular SEO software resources out there, most notably SEO Elite. The folks who built that offer a free SEO ebook that you can download here.
Next,
Search engines love to see other places linking to your site (not link farms, mind you, real honest to goodness links!).
One way you can achieve this is by hosting a blog off of your site (everytime you update your blog, blog directories are generally notified and include it in their index). I wrote a bit about that over here.
You can also consider articles marketing too! "Articles marketing" is simply the art of writing good quality essays about niche topics...and including a direct link back to your site in your resource box. Turn words into cash is a great resource for this. Additionally, Writing Articles has great advice as well.
Achieving high SEO is one thing...converting those people to actual sales is quite another! You'll be quite miserable to see tons of visitors rampaging thru your site...and nary a dollar to show for it.
So! The best thing I can recommend for that is Make Your Site Sell - Site Build It. Extremely comprehensive, it takes you thru all the requirements not only to rank well...but also to convert visitors too.
And Total Web SEO deals with MSN in particular....if you'd like to focus there.
I hope you've found the above useful! Please feel free to share it with your friends.
