Before You Begin

Are you a beginner to making money online? If so, you've come to the right place!

I want you to sit down (okay, you're probably already doing that), close your eyes (after you read the next part, that is) and ask yourself

What have I heard is really the truth about making money online?

And why do so many marketers tell me that I'll be up the proverbial paddle without a creek if I don't buy their materials?

And why do some marketers tell me I can make millions even if I have no clue as to what to sell, how to sell it or how to create it (and with little to no time to do it on my own)?

And why do some people tell me they're offering additional material valued at $9,283 for free if I buy their $97 product?

Why, you ask?

Simple. Because that's what sells.

Marketers will tell you how poor and miserable you'll be without their products to create a sense of urgency within you to buy.

Marketers will tell you how you can make millions even if you're clueless because they'll outline the exact steps it takes. However (and this is key), making money online is a skill. I could probably give you a step-by-step process for becoming a football superstar, but it's up to you to follow my directions.

Do YOU have the fortitude critical to making the playoffs?

Do YOU have the knack for knowing where the football will end up.and how to recover it and go to score a goal?

Do YOU have the physical stamina for day in, day out practice?

Well? You might. Then again, you might not.

Giving you the instructions isn't the key.giving you the foundation of skills that is required.....is.

Thus, here are some tips from the Beginners Make Money Cookbook to help you out.

Tip 1 - Blow away the smoke

Stay with me here, this is critical. You read so much hype and froth about making money online because.just about everyone has an inner dream for instant wealth and riches. Kinda like Ovaltine, that "just add this powder and make thick rich Ovaltine instantly!"

This is called `selling the dream'. It's their job, they're marketers. That's what they do.

Your job as a consumer is to do your due-diligence and determine what kinds of money-making techniques can really work for you.

Oh, and the question about the bazillion of value given in addition for free if you buy a $97 book? It increases the perceived value of a product. Again, it's a marketing technique.

Thus, you must educate yourself as to what works best for you...and what you should avoid at all costs. As you're the consumer, this is your responsibility.

Tip 2 - Understand the truth about making money online

You make money online when one of 3 things happen.

Someone clicks on your PPC (pay per click) like Adsense, Yahoo Publisher, Searchfeed etc. This requires traffic to your site (heck, it requires a site itself).

Someone buys an affiliate product thru your link. Money then changes hands.and you receive your commission. This requires either Adwords, traffic to your site, viral document (a file you design that has your affiliate embedded in it.and then pass it around for free) or your own optin list.

Someone buys your own product. Money changes hands, you receive your payment. This requires a responsive customer base.

Notice how there's one common component in the above?

EACH CHOICE REQUIRES SOMEONE CLICKING ON YOUR "MONEY LINK" AND LEAVING YOUR PAGES/FILE/etc.

They might leave it to buy an affiliate product thru your link. They might leave it by clicking on your Adsense. They might leave it by buying your own product via your sales link.

But they leave your page or file.

The key to increasing your online income is bringing them back again and again to your money links....as well as telling their friends to visit too.

Thus remember, the first sale to a customer should not be the last. And it should also lead to that customer telling his or her friends about your outstanding products.

Tip 3 - Know thyself.

Everyone has different skillsets.

No, let me amend that statement.

Everyone possesses different skillsets NOW. Everyone also has the ability to learn different skillsets TOMORROW.

Your willingness to do that is key for determining what work for you successfully in making money online.

For example, consider your Aunt Bertha. Your Aunt Bertha might be a dynamo at building bunches of blogs and autoblogging to them (don't all Aunt Berthas have that skill?).

You, on the other hand, might view a computer as a big stationary box, second only to ATMs. Think of it this way:

You know ATMs are beneficial - you put in a card (ideally yours) and take out money (again, ideally yours).

Unbeknownst to you, bunches of transactions are going on behind the scenes. But you don't have to concern yourself with those.you just need to see that money hummin' on out to you.

To someone trained in ATMs, they're not complicated at all. But to someone who has never seen the inner workings, they can be more mysterious than crop circles.

Making money online is the same way.

Right now, you might not know how to tweak templates or create infoproducts or build a mailing list or . you get my drift.

But! If you were to give yourself permission to learn, you might discover the steps required aren't that difficult at all.

Giving yourself permission...that's the key.

Ask yourself:

What is really holding yourself back from success online?

Is it that you do not have the basic skills necessary to create sites/domains/etc.?

If so, that's easily fixed - simply take advantage of the free tutorials online or run on down to your local Barnes and Nobles and invest in one of those HTML for beginners guides.

Consider the following:

Bill Gates didn't build the PC prior to learning how to write code.

Thomas Edison didn't invent the lightbulb prior learning how to make filaments .

Michelangelo didn't paint the Sistine Chapel prior to learning how to hold a paint brush.

Your typical college student didn't earn his or her degree prior to mastering the ABCs.

Big name marketers who sell you the products you buy online didn't create said products prior to mastering how to use the Internet.

See where I'm going here? You'll have a far better chance for success when you build upon a firm foundation of critical skills.

Above and beyond
