Beyond any shadow of a doubt, I find an autoresponder account to be the most important part of making money online (if you use the recipes for making your own product, running your own Ezine, selling on eBay or developing your own following).
Why, I hear you ask?
Because the real money is made on the Internet once you:
have an army of affiliates who are selling the products you make (you use the autoresponder to send out affiliate updates and such)
run your own eZine where you can recommend affiliate products (you use the autoresponder to let folks sign up)
can institute followup marketing (someone visits your site and requests your free report. You can then then structure a series of followup emails that will automatically get sent to your prospect at selected times via the autoresponder).
Keep in mind that you certainly can make money without an autoresponder. It's only been this year, however, that I started really using it as a power tool - and it's great. If you want to make money for the long term online, get an autoresponder.
Here are some ideas excerpted from the Beginners Make Money Cookbook to help you out.
You don't have to be limited to just one autoresponder - you can have one for your ezines, one for your special report, one for your product followup, etc. I myself have about 30-40 or so....each one is targeted to a slightly different audience.
My favorite resources for multiple autoresponders are:
Once you have an AR, think about:
Don't just send out sales notes! Instead, use your autoresponder to create a relationship with your list.
For example, I generally will include some humor or late-breaking news in my missives. Certainly, I'll add on a p.s. at the end that might include a product link (btw - visit this resource for the very best ideas regarding that)...but I'll always try to engage the reader's emotions first and foremost.
You can send weekly ezines...you can create brandable reports...you can sends simply 'headsup!' messages every now and then. And should you choose to excel in affiliate marketing, you can then promote OPPs (other people's products) as well.
What if you want to use your autoresponder to run an ezine...but find generating enough quality content to be a chore? You can nip yourself over to Instant Niche eMails - that software package lets you devise 52 weeks of content in less than a few hours.
Next, it's time to
Wanna increase your autoresponder signups?
Let's say that you are selling a product... and have put into place a squeeze page that allows people to request a special report.
Most autoresponders are double-opt in (ie, the person has to click on a confirmation link to really get the information).
On that confirmation page, have a link that reads, while you're waiting, sign up for my free ezine!
You'd be surprised how many people will take you up on that.
Some nifty resources for autoresponders include:
