Before You Begin

You might have heard about affiliate marketing...but have you heard about it from both sides?

Let me explain. Let's say that you create your own infoproduct online. You can sell it yourself, of course.

You can also create an affiliate program in which hundreds of others sell it in return for a commission.

That's thousands of dollars you wouldn't see from your own efforts.

Next, let's say that you DON'T want to create any products. You can still build a website, write a blog, create an Ezine, etc...and monetize that via profitable mentions of affiliate programs. When someone buys thru your link, you make money.

And remember, you didn't spend a dime in creating the product.but you made money off of it after someone buys it thru your affiliate link.

Smart people infuse affiliate marketing with all aspects of their online business. They leave their egos by the door! They say, okay, there are other folks besides me who create sterling products.why not offer them as well to round out your current suite of goodies?

And here are some ideas excerpted from the Beginners Make Money Cookbook to help you out.

Tip 1 - Affiliate marketing insights

When you think about promoting someone else's products, what runs thru your mind?

  • Placing ads on classifieds websites?
  • Adding their affiliate link to your signature?
  • Getting a cookie-cutter affiliate website and trying to get it listed in a search engine?

Well?

If that's about all you think of, do I have an insight with the power of supernova comet coming right at you!

You can use affiliate marketing in all areas of your online interactions.

  • You can include affiliate products in your blog postings.
  • You can include them in your forum signatures.
  • You can include them in your resource websites.
  • You can even include them in your email signature like so:

    Barbara Ling
Do you love Star Wars Collectibles too?
          http://www.RichHermit.com/help/ssw.html

That last link is a DAPL (dynamic affiliate profit link) that goes to eBay for signed Star Wars goodies. If someone buys from it, I get commissions. You could easily do the same thing!

From where do you get affiliate links? Excellent question! It's time for:

Tip 2 - Popular affiliate programs

Popular places that offer great affiliate programs are:

Including affiliate programs in your site, however, isn't the be-all or end all. Many affiliate links are very easy to hijack! For example, consider this link for The Rich Hermit:

http://lingstar.richhermit.hop.clickbank.net

It's by the affiliate 'lingstar'.

Let's say that a visitor sees that link...and has their own affiliate ID, like 'seoprofits'. They could put in their affiliate ID like so:

http://seoprofits.richhermit.hop.clickbank.net

That would effectively deprive lingstar of valid commission! So, when dealing with affiliate programs, you want to:

Tip 3 - Cloak your affiliate links

I wrote a nifty way to cloak one's affiliate link at My Help Desk. If you're a bit leery about creating redirect files yourself, you can always take advantage of products like Affiliate Link Cloaker.

Mark my words - if you want to promote affiliate programs, you owe it to yourself to protect your online income as much as possible.

Above and beyond

There's lots of great affiliate resources out there. They include:

I hope you've found the above useful! Please feel free to share it with your friends.
