Google's Adsense program lets you put their targeted ads on your website. If people click on them, you make money.

Here's an easy way to think about Adsense. Go to Google's website and search for

Look now to the right hand side. See all those text ads? Those ads are placed there by Google's customers for Adwords. People use Adwords to get their links to show up on the first page of a search engine search.

Now, Google probably thought, "hey gee, there are all these sites out there that AREN'T Google....I'll bet my Adwords customers would love to get visibility on their sites too! And to make webmasters and site owners want to put Google ads on their own personal website, well golly, I think I'll pay the webmasters a price they'll earn everytime someone clicks on those ads on their site."

That's what Adsense is. It's basically Google paying you for the privilege of putting their ads on your own webspace. Yahoo Publisher works the same way.

Tip 1 - The truth behind making money with adsense

If you have tremendously high traffic all in all, you can make heaploads of money this way. If not, you can still make some niche change from it as well!

BUT! You CAN indeed start generating a dash of dollars here, a minute mound of money there, if you put up your Adsense on your personal webpages.

Thus, I'd recommend adding Adsense to your sites when you're first starting out. You can always modify your pages later.
