One sunny Sunday morning in June, my daughter and I started watering our garden. We connected the water-hose to a pipe. Turned on the tap. Picked up the tube... Nothing! The water-tank was empty. So, we filled it up. Went back into the garden. Started over again - and wondered why there was just a trickle of water flowing through. We turned the faucet fully open. Not much changed. Hmm... what could be wrong? Then, we noticed a kink in the tubing. Straightened it out. Suddenly, a forceful gush of water poured out of the hose. Happy, we went back to our task. But a few minutes later, the flow slowed back down to a weak dribble! Was our Sunday morning fun to be doomed by this jinx? Should we just give up, go in and watch TV? Maybe gardening wasn't really a relaxing hobby or refreshing activity! But no, I Don't Give Up That Easy - On Anything Determined to fix this once and for all, we started tracing the entire length of the hose, from tap to spout. And get this... we found it twisted, bent or narrowed in SEVEN different places! Once these spots were straightened out, we were rewarded by a torrent of fresh, clean water spraying out the other end - and it lasted as long as we finished watering all plants, washing the car, even having a 'water fight' that soaked us both to the bone! But... What has this got to do with Niche Marketing? Nothing... and everything. You see, many people (you, too, maybe?) start out in niche marketing without knowing the first thing about it. That's like watering with an empty tank! With some time, learning and experience, many learn the ropes - discover what works, and more often, what does NOT work. It takes time, or money, or both to learn this. And after a few weeks or months, if you're lucky, you'll start seeing a trickle of profit - or even the occasional gush. But as you sit back, waiting for the cash to flood your bank account, it all slows back down to a trickle... and even stops!
