Will I get rich quick?
No.
Wasn’t that simple?
Tiny classified ads have such a seductive ring to them. Tiny, small, teeny-weeny, and yet the results apparently bestow Florida homes and palm trees and ocean waves and lots of babes (and ever notice how you never see scantily-clad men?).
Who wouldn’t be thrilled?
The concept of “Tiny classified ads” calls out to the hidden desire that truly, a short-cut to wealth, fame, fortune, Florida homes and such, must somehow exist. Forget hard labor, forget years of planning, forget common sense - that slim hope of money money money for no work work work is embedded in the Dream of Tiny Classified Ads.
Now, since I’ve never placed tiny classified ads, except when I was having a garage sale, I can’t comment on the success or failure. However, I can mention that teeny weeny fact which somehow never is blantantly presented…
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Have you considered:
- Product. What will you sell? Have you thoroughly researched starting up your own business in this field?
Cost. Tiny classified ads cost somewhat more than your average lunch and possibly dinner. And that’s just for one paper.
Number. Multiply the above cost by, say, the thousand or so recommended sites for each paper.
Tracking. Let’s say that you took the plunge and advertised in the thousands of newspapers around. Are you prepared to track each and every one? What about billing? What about paying?
Audience. How do you ensure your audience is actively looking where you placed your ad?
This doesn’t mean that you can’t be successful. It does mean the following.
- It’s not easy. Successful product marketing and build-ups take time, money and effort.
It’s not guaranteed. Work-at-home operations, for this certainly is a work-at-home scenario, can start and fail just like everything else in this world. Make certain you research well what you are getting into, and understand all of the efforts required.
It takes time. A long, long long amount of time.
That being said, tiny classified ads, strategically written and placed, can certainly assist your business if it evokes the right call to action. What kind of call to action?
- To learn more….which for you, generates leads.
Let me repeat that - to learn more! How do people learn more? By contacting the number or visiting the website mentioned. Classified ads have enjoyed great success with some types of direct mail marketing by generating leads…it allows the marketer to then start a followup campaign designed to close the sale. There are some superb resources to learn more about Direct Mail marketing - the Direct Marketing Association, Jim Straw’s Business Lyceum and more. You can even visit the Entrepreneur’s Success Forum to learn from the best as well.
