A “ping” of zee link simply means you’re telling other resources online (that’s the ‘ping’ sound you hear) that a new post has been made.
One way to think about it is like so.
• You’ve just made a new post to a blog. It contains really amazing stuff!
• The Internet is composed of two entities, “you” and “it”.
• “You” know the page has been updated.
• “It” does not.
• “You” tell “It” by knocking on the door of the services that “It” listens to and saying, Wowsie, check out my new post HERE!
That’s what pinging is.
There are lots of places to ping. Blog platforms like Blogger.com and Wordpress.org automatically will ping “ping services.”

One neat benefit I noticed from feedburner is the feed I created from their services got indexed in Google rather quickly.
