Morning all,
So there I was, flush with the excitement from customer reactions regarding the Rich Hermit, and all set and fixated upon completing Book II as soon as possible. The sun was shining (well, okay, it was 3:30am, it really wasn’t, but you get the idea), the birdies were mooing and the cows were tweeting and I was ready to imbibe my morning 32 cups of coffee and produce reams of utterly brilliant work!
My life, she be a soap opera! But I digress.
Boldly I strode to my computer. Confidently I turned it on! And shell-shocked I stood, as I watched the mother board return the following message:
I’m sorry, but the blue screen of death I know you want to see is currently unavailable. To brighten your morning, I, your treasured motherboard, have decided to implode. Have a nice day!
And that was that. I’m currently writing to you from my children’s computer. And you have no idea how exciting it is to see Neopets advertisements pop up every now and then!
Ah, but I digress once more!
Let me tell you, you really just haven’t lived, you really haven’t, until you realize that your Book I template is currently floating above in the atmosphere, your Book II table of contents that you just finished is currently searching for the Titanic, and your complete collection of categorized ClarityMarks that you depended upon for clear concise Internet mapping are, well, toast. “Toast”, I might add, that the cavefish that inhabit active volcanos would find too crispy, even for them.
Now, I truly believe everything happens for a reason. So even though I will admit I give into a brief moment of UTTER AGONIZINGLY PAINFUL (wait, I’m exaggerating, hang on) TOTALLY MIND-NUMBING EXCRUCIATING (we’re experiencing technical difficulties here, one more moment) AND BLINDLY TORTUROUS lovely few seconds of my life, I figured,
Golly.
It could be worse.
So I looked around to see what I could accomplish online from another computer.
Let this be a lesson to you, I beg of you! Always have a backup! Now, my data still needs to be recovered (yes, my backups’ backup, well, didn’t quite back up)…but I was able to easily tell my inner self that a.) panicking will only cause more grey hairs (and only my family is allowed to give me those!), and b.) there are many other things I can do during this time (write in my blog, activate another autoresponder for my MMTs, etc.etc.etc.etc.). So I’m back to being operational in a rather creative format.
The moral of this story? Life happens! It’s how you deal with it that will either benefit…or vaporize your income. And it’s always an adventure.
Toast anyone?
Enjoy,
Barbara
An update! 15 minutes later…
It turns out that the problem was the dynamic power coupling on the overflow engine! Or in other words, we unplugged and replugged in the power supply on the motherboard. It works! It works! I can get off of Neopets now!
A futher update, 3 hours later…
Yes I do adore Neopets. We had a lightning storm! And it hit my computer! And now the array is undetected! Does the excitement and utter joy ever stop in the Ling household?
I figure it’s character-building to tell the kids, not now dear, you can’t use your computer, mommy is following up on her homework.
